HISTORICAL POSITION:

• Some NHW’s in the Upper Highway area receive between R30k-R50k per month (R360k-R600k annually).

• Assagay NHW Donations by year (our financial year runs April to March):

  • 2021/22 = R107k

  • 2022/23 = R63k

  • 2023/24 = R216k

  • 2024/25 = R306k (a new record! 102% of our R300k budget)

  • 2025/26 = R338k (a new record! 97% of our R350k budget!). Well done and thank you to everyone that donated.

  • 2026/27 = R127k YTD (35% of our R350k budget).

2026/27 Progress against Budget:

Our camera rollout/acquisitions has picked up speed, with a few new sites identified and in progress. Work on area maintenance/cleaning and responder training has continued as planned. We have made a massive dent on the Kassier Road wetland rehabilitation! We have also taken over the Assagay Conservancy.

Updated Budget for the year:

• Cameras (new installations and maintenance): R130,000

• Responder Equipment & Training: R23,000

• Area Betterment (Verges, parks, wetland, lighting, CPF): R105,000

• Admin, Operations, Events, Marketing: R42,000

On average, the ANHW patrollers drive an estimated 400km to 700km per month for you, the residents. They do not currently get reimbursed for this cost. The ANHW is a volunteer-based, non-profit operation and your donations determine the speed at which security and betterment projects are rolled out.
