HISTORICAL POSITION:

• Some NHW’s in the Upper Highway area receive between R30k-R50k per month (R360k-R600k annually).

• Assagay NHW Donations by year:

  • 2021/22 = R107k

  • 2022/23 = R63k

  • 2023/24 = R216k

  • 2024/25 = R306k! 

2024/25 Progress against Budget:

Our financial year started in April 2024; at the end of March 2025 we finished our 12 month cycle. Thank you for donating R306k and allowing us to achieve 102% of our annual goal! The Finance Committee had set an ambitious yet achievable target of R300k, split across the following portfolios (in descending order of priority) - actuals spent shown in brackets. Expenses outstepped donations within the period, eating into our reserves brought forward):

• Cameras (new installations and maintenance): R110k (actuals = R163k)

• Patroller/Responders equipment and training: R90k (actuals = R92k)

• Area betterment (verges/parks/trees/lighting/CPF initiatives): R70k (actuals = R64k)

• Administration, Operations, Events and Marketing: R30k (actuals = R26k)

On average, the ANHW patrollers drive an estimated 400km to 700km per month for you, the residents. They do not currently get reimbursed for this cost. The ANHW is a volunteer-based, non-profit operation and your donations determine the speed at which security and betterment projects are rolled out.
